STATEMENT FROM SUPERINTENDENT JOHN WHITE REGARDING BESE APPROVAL OF THE 2014-15 MINIMUM FOUNDATION PROGRAM FORMULA

BATON ROUGE, La. – State Superintendent of Education John White issued a statement today concerning the Minimum Foundation Program formula:

“The Minimum Foundation Program approved today by BESE after nine months of public discussion provides public schools with more than $125 million of additional funding and acknowledges rising costs. It goes beyond that to provide students with opportunities to pursue career training and early college coursework. Finally, it accounts for the needs of students with the most significant disabilities. I thank the board for its vote and thank all those who participated in the formula’s development.”
