State seeks more pre-K programs for pilot

BATON ROUGE — Superintendent of Education John White is looking for a several good pre-kindergarten programs to participate in a program aimed at upgrading academic preparedness of preschoolers.

White said Monday the 15-parish public and private pre-K pilot program currently in place is showing marked advancement and it’s time to bring in more volunteers.

“We are thrilled with the results of the pilot to date,” he said. “No longer can we accept radically different standards for student learning depending on the program or funding stream.”
