State education superintendent to discuss pre-school plan in Baton Rouge, New Orleans meetings

State Education Superintendent John White plans to discuss early childhood education during public meetings in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, according to the early childhood advocacy group Policy Institute for Children. On Sept. 15 and 22, he’ll present his vision for the next steps in the implementation of Act 3 of the 2012 legislative session and related laws, which require new academic standards and letter grades for pre-schools, among other moves.

Children and Family Services Secretary Suzy Sonnier will join him for the Sept. 15 discussion in Baton Rouge. Audience members may ask questions at both talks.
