Rapides Parish teachers call for more training in Common Core

Rapides Parish teachers want more training to become comfortable with Common Core, according to comments made to state Education Superintendent John White during a visit to the parish Thursday.

A group of “teacher leaders,” who were trained to be the point persons at local schools for Common Core questions, administration and parents, spoke with White at Peabody Montessori Elementary School in Alexandria. Many asked for more training.

Rosie Gottlieb, kindergarten teacher at Alma Redwine New Vision Academy, was the first to stress the need for more training.
