he Shreveport chapter of the NAACP is calling on the Caddo Parish School Board to address the root problems in local schools if the district wants to avoid state takeover.
On Thursday, President Lloyd Thompson hand-delivered a packet of recommendations to interim superintendent Mary Nash Robinson and the 12-member board. Thompson said the questions and ideas were the result of two community forums hosted by the organization.
“The most often asked question we heard was that Caddo’s plan is built on trusting the district to do what they’ve said they were going to do time and time again, but how can we trust them this time?” Thompson asked. “Give us data or some information in order for us to trust because we can’t just go on trust alone. That has hurt our kids for too long.”
