Mike Hasten: Common Core battle rages on in court

You can learn a lot by sitting in a courtroom.

First thing you learn is the benches in courtrooms weren’t designed to be comfortable. If it’s a long hearing, that fact becomes clear in the first half-hour.

Another thing is that even though you have a strong feeling you know how something’s going to come out, don’t count on it being exactly as you thought.

Take, for example, Friday’s hearing on a lawsuit filed by 17 lawmakers against the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Department of Education over adoption of Common Core State Standards.
