Louisiana Senators reject repeal of law on class materials

BATON ROUGE – As it has for the past several years, the Senate Education Committee today killed an attempt to appeal the Louisiana Science Education Act, which allows science teachers to introduce alternatives to evolution and other scientific subjects.

Members of the committee voted 3-1 to reject SB175 by Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, D-New Orleans, after hearing testimony from both sides of the issue.
