John White stands behind Core, downplays rift with Gov. Bobby Jindal

Louisiana Education Superintendent John White stood behind his support of Common Core State Standards and the accompanying test Friday, claiming he and Gov. Bobby Jindal are having an inevitable difference of opinion in the midst of many successful educational collaborations.

White addressed both the governor’s recent shift from initial support of Common Core State Standards and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, the test known as PARCC, and his own determination to move forward with the initiatives in a statewide conference call with Gannett Louisiana editors and reporters.
